Surgical sedation
Sedation can come in many forms. We are sensitive to fears children may have about sedation, as well as the surgery itself, so our dedicated sedation team offers several types. For nonsurgical procedures, we use twilight sedation. This is a safer alternative to general anesthesia that combines a local anesthetic with sedation, so your child can fall into a relaxed, calm, sleepy state, without ever becoming unconscious. They will feel no pain where the local anesthetic was administered.
For all other procedures, we operate based on the needs and overall health of your child, and make sure to frequently check their breathing, heart rate and blood pressure.
Our sedation team is the only credentialed pediatric sedation team in Western North Carolina, and we are proud to have garnered a reputation for positive outcomes amongst the region's youngest patients.
