Burn treatments we offer

Burns need specialized treatment and monitoring to ensure your skin and tissue repair properly. The burn specialists in our center know this, and care deeply about helping you heal. This process begins with a thorough evaluation to assess the depth of your burn, using leading-edge diagnostic tools, such as laser Doppler imagers. Based on the images produced, we create a personalized plan with recommended treatments that meet your needs. If you need additional wound care services, our specialists are also prepared to treat them as well. Some of the burn care services we may use for your condition include:

  • Advanced topical dressings
  • Ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing
  • Biological dressings
  • Compression wraps
  • Debridement
  • Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT)
  • Offloading support (not bearing weight on burned extremities)
  • Skin grafts
  • Skin substitutes
  • Stem cell therapy for burns
  • Unna boots (specialized wound dressing)

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)

HBOT is an advanced treatment that increases your skin's oxygen intake to promote more swift, complete healing of burned tissue and damaged skin. Every care plan is different, so HBOT is typically used in combination with other wound therapies and procedures. Regardless of the severity of your condition, we work tirelessly to find the right combination for you.

Regenerative therapy

Regenerative therapy, or growth factor (GF) therapy, involves the topical application of substances that promote new cell growth, while healing damaged ones. We typically use this type of treatment if you are experiencing chronic wounds that have been resistant to more conventional healing practices. Examples of these types of wounds can include both venous leg and diabetic foot ulcers.

Particularly with deep, second-degree burns, regenerative therapy has proven most effective when used in conjunction with HBOT. Its primary benefit is the overall reduction of healing times, in addition to helping scars improve in flexibility, height, pigmentation and vascularity.
