Older adult structured outpatient program (SOP)

Fresh Start was developed in 2007 with a mission to provide outpatient services to older adults with a desire to improve their behavioral and emotional health. We work to improve your well-being by looking at the mental, emotional and social aspects of your health. If you are an adult 55 years old or older, and find yourself struggling, Fresh Start might be right for you.

Features of the Fresh Start program for seniors

This senior-based program blends in-person and virtual attendance, and is open to any state resident. We provide individualized and group treatments for a wide range of conditions, and you typically attend two group therapy sessions a day, two or more days a week, for 12 or more weeks.

The program offers many services, including:

  • Group therapy — Discussing your struggles in a safe place can be very restorative. Group therapy helps by connecting you to others with similar problems, helping you find your voice, and learning from one another.
  • Individual therapy — For topics that feel to hard to bring to group therapy, individual therapy gives you safe place to explore these thoughts. Working one-on-one allows for a deeper, more personalized understanding of what's going on in your life.
  • Medication management — Regular meetings with our on-site doctor provide the opportunity to ensure that your prescription is offering the best results. In these meetings, we encourage you to be heavily involved, so you can help influence the direction of your treatment.
  • Psychiatric evaluations — Our doctors can speak with you about your symptoms and rule out other physical conditions that might be the root cause. This evaluation ensures we have an accurate picture to better understand your problematic behaviors or thoughts.

We pledge a continuum of care by assuring that treatment plans, consultation notes, evaluations and any other therapeutic recommendations are sent to your primary care physicians, psychiatrists and therapists.
