Summer College Volunteer Applicants Thank you for your interest in the Summer College Volunteer Program at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Application for the 2020 Summer College Volunteer Program is DUE by 5 pm on Wednesday, April 15. Successful summer college volunteers will: Commit to 70 hours of volunteer service throughout the 10 weeks of the summer program Agree to volunteer for either one 8-hour day per week or two 4-hour days per week Be available to volunteer for at least 4 hours of their weekly commitment during normal business hours, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday Attend orientation Comply with vaccination policies – including measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (TDAP), tuberculosis blood test (TSPOT) and annual flu vaccines – all provided by Mission, if needed Steps to become a summer college volunteer: Step 1 – Summer College Volunteer Application. Step 2 – Attend an interview session with a Mission Volunteer team member, who will contact you once your application has been received. The interview will provide an opportunity to get to know you and where you might serve best. Step 3 – Attend the Summer College Volunteer orientation session to learn more about the role and to meet volunteer educational and safety requirements. Step 4 – Complete required vaccination screening, provided free of charge by Mission Health staff. Step 5 – Attend department-specific training for your volunteer position. Questions? Interviews will be scheduled once all references have been returned. Interviews will be scheduled during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Wednesday, May 27, 2020, 3 pm — Summer College Volunteer Orientation Monday, June 1 – Friday, August 7, 2020 — Summer College Volunteer Program Inclement Weather/Cancellation Policy Volunteer orientation classes at Mission Hospital follow AB Tech’s Inclement Weather Policy. If AB Tech classes are cancelled due to weather, volunteer orientation classes will not be held. If AB Tech has a late start, volunteer orientation classes will be held as scheduled.
