Nonsurgical Spine Care

If you are experiencing back or neck pain due to arthritis, an injury of the muscles, tendons, bones or joints, or a spine condition that limits your mobility, the experts at the Mission Health Spine Center specialize in the diagnosis and conservative treatment to reduce your pain and return you to activity. At Mission, we provide a collaborative approach to care, bringing together a team of physiatrists, imaging specialists, orthopedic spine surgeons, physical therapists and rehabilitation specialists to identify the cause of your pain and provide personalized care based on your specific needs. We welcome self-referrals, and work alongside referring physicians and other specialists to optimize treatment.

Expert Physiatrists Guide Treatment

At the Mission Health Spine Center, our experienced, fellowship-trained physiatrists are experts in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and serve on the front line of your care. Our physiatrists provide detailed consultations for patients suffering from neck or back pain to accurately diagnose the condition or injury, and if needed, provide functional capacity evaluations to better understand how the pain is affecting your movement and interfering with your daily activities. Our physiatrists use advanced diagnostic procedures, including:

  • WMG/nerve conduction studies
  • Discography
  • Nerve and muscle biopsy

After the cause of your pain has been identified, our physiatrists oversee your care, initiating treatment, working with physical therapists and, if needed, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons and other specialists.

At Mission, our physiatrists offer a variety of nonsurgical and less-invasive procedures, including:

  • Ultrasound and fluoroscope-guided spine injections
  • Nerve stimulators, blocks and ablation procedures
  • Joint injections
  • Prosthetic and orthotics
  • Home-exercise programs
