The Mauzy-Phillips Center at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital

Mauzy Phillips Center

The new Mauzy-Phillips Center at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital is a two-story, 30,000 square foot medical office building that will provide space for primary care, orthopedics, general surgery, wound care and rotating specialists from Asheville and Boone. The center will also include laboratory services, X-ray, an in-house pharmacy, and endoscopy suites.

With all these outpatient services available in one central location, access to exceptional medical care will be greatly improved for patients in the area.

The facility’s first floor includes rooms for primary care physician services, orthopedics, lab services, x-ray and a retail pharmacy. The second floor includes rooms for general surgery, endoscopy, wound care and other rotating specialists. Existing services will be enhanced, and room for new specialty service expansion is now a reality.

The building is designed for maximum efficiency and communication between departments. Parking space has been expanded, and accessibility to the building is optimal.

Becky Carter, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital’s president and chief nursing officer, said the facility is set up with enough space for eight physicians at one time. Physicians will be able to rent space and set up shop inside the facility without the need to hire a support staff or pay and furnish a building to house their practice. Staff and equipment will be provided by the hospital.

“It’s set up so we can function with convenient resources for physicians,” said Carter. “We have a full team, so physicians will have the support they need.”

The facility will add to the number of days specialty practices will be available during the week including ear and throat, foot and nail, cardiology and others. The facility will also greatly expand accessibility to endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures ordinarily offered only at the hospital.

The building’s close proximity to the hospital allows doctors and surgeons to quickly check on patients being housed in the hospital. The Mauzy-Phillips Center is an outstanding resource that will help make our medical community sustainable for the next generation.
