Resolve Blue Cross Balance

As of October 5, 2017, Mission Health is no longer in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) provider network. As an out-of-network provider, you may see some changes in how your bills are processed and paid. We are here to assist you and make paying your bill as easy as possible so that you can focus on healing and being well. The information on this page will walk you through the billing process step by step, including important things you’ll receive in the mail and different options you have to process your payments.

How to Submit Your EOB and Pay Your Bill


After your visit, Mission Health will submit your claims for your treatment or service directly to Blue Cross. This part does not change and is the same as we did previously.

Once we submit your claims,

You will receive a letter from Mission Health with instructions to walk you through the billing process, which will also include an already-paid return envelope for you to use to send your documents that you will receive from Blue Cross to Mission.

Separately, you will receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Blue Cross once they process the claim. The EOB will explain the amount that insurance will cover. The insurance-covered amount is set by Blue Cross and is dependent upon your specific health plan and that plan’s out-of-network benefits.

Once you receive your EOB in the mail,

You must send the copy of the EOB to Mission Health so we can assist you in resolving your balance. Payment is not required with your EOB. You will be billed once you submit your EOB and Blue Cross payment (if any) to Mission Health and your out-of-network benefits are determined.

Ways to send your EOB to Mission Health:

    • Using any envelope, mail it to:

Once you submit your EOB to Mission Health, we can officially begin assisting you with the payment process.

We will review your submitted EOB, your out-of-network benefits and apply the Blue Cross payment you send to Mission to your bill. You will receive a bill for the remaining balance after insurance.

There are a few ways you can pay your bill:

  • Check from Blue Cross for payment of services – check must be endorsed before sending; see instructions below to endorse check
  • Personal check or money order:
    • Make check out to “Mission Health,” include today’s date and the amount provided in the check from Blue Cross, and sign the check.
    • Send check to:

Pay Bill Using Check from Blue Cross

Blue Cross may send a check directly to you for payment of services. Previously, Blue Cross sent this payment directly to Mission Health as an in-network provider.

To pay your bill using the check from Blue Cross, you must first endorse it before sending to Mission Health. To endorse the check from Blue Cross:

  1. On the back of the check in the “Endorse” area, first write: “Pay to the order of Mission Health.”
  2. Then, just below that on the dotted line, sign the check EXACTLY as your name appears on the front.
