Helping During the Coronavirus

Thank you for all your support

We realize these are unprecedented times for our community as we all work to reduce the effects of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, and we truly appreciate the generous outpouring of support. If you feel inclined to help, here are some things you can do.

Keep Yourself and Others Healthy

Stay home whenever possible, wash your hands often and practice social distancing by staying at least six feet away from others. Follow these and all of the guidelines set forth by local, state and federal public health officials including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as we work to slow the spread of the virus.

Caring for our Caregivers

We recognize that our community is counting on us, and wants our caregivers to stay strong. All of your well-wishes have been helping with that! If you would like to send a message of gratitude and encouragement for our physicians, nurses and caregivers, we would love to hear from you! You can post a note or photo of thanks on social media and tag us at #MissionUs, #missionhealth or #lifeatmission. You can also email us your photos or sentiments so that we can share them with our dedicated teams. Please indicate if you prefer to remain anonymous.

Contribute to Helpful Charities

We recognize that every family in the community is experiencing different challenges from this pandemic, including our colleagues. By contributing to local non-profits or a regional COVID-19 response fund, you can help our patients, team members, and neighbors get the help they need for a variety of issues during this critical time. Additionally, the HCA Hope Fund is available to accept donations that provide assistance to our colleagues during times of financial stress.

Other funds to consider for helping healthcare workers and all of those experiencing current hardships:

Make a Product Donation*

Mission Health is humbled by the community’s generous response to offer support and encouragement for our healthcare workers, and the many efforts across the region to provide donations or supplies. In order to adhere to social distancing measures and higher-level visitor restrictions, each of our facilities has set up drop-off locations with bins and signage placed near approved entrance points.

Facility drop-off locations:

  •  Angel Medical Center
    • Main Entrance
  • Blue Ridge Regional Hospital
    • ER Visitor Entrance
  • CarePartners
    • Rehab Hospital Main Entrance
    • Hospice Solace Main Entrance
  • Highland-Cashiers Hospital
    • Main Entrance
  • Mission Hospital
    • McDowell Lobby (Entrance 4)
  • Mission Hospital McDowell
    • Entrance 2
  • Transylvania Regional Hospital
    •  Outpatient Entrance, and ER Entrance

We also deeply appreciate offers of handmade masks and are happy to accept them for the possibility of future use, should our supplies of hospital-grade masks be impacted as this situation evolves. Alternatively, we encourage people making these to connect with WNC Masks of Love to ensure that they can be distributed to other essential workers in the community who may need them more immediately. The State Office of Emergency Management is also coordinating donations for areas of need across the state and can be contacted at BEOC@NCDPS.GOV.

Donate Food*

The generous offers of food and treats coming from our local restaurants and community groups have lifted the morale of our staff, who are grateful for these gestures of support and solidarity. We are able to receive food donations that have been prepared by a restaurant or are otherwise commercially prepared, single serving and/or individually wrapped. In an abundance of caution for protecting our care teams, we cannot accept food in bulk where it would be served in chaffing dishes or require serving utensils that will be handled by multiple people (ex. a family-style meal.) If you have questions about acceptable food donations or would like to coordinate a delivery, please contact the facilities below:

Donate Blood

If you are interested in helping our community in others ways, we urge you to consider making a blood donation through the The Blood Connection as our nation’s blood supplies are critically low.

Thank you for your support!

*Please note that donations to HCA Healthcare/Mission Health and/or any of our facilities are not tax-deductible and receipts will not be given.
