Mission Health | Mission Health Construction Updates
Mission Health has served our community for more than 130 years. The new North Tower at Mission Hospital, the new Angel Medical Center and improvements at all of our Mission Health hospitals will provide care for our friends, families and neighbors for 130 more.
From the first patient carried to Mission Hospital in 1885 to patients brought in by MAMA today, Mission Health continues to make medical advances and change as our community grows and its health needs change. More than 500 team members, patients, families and community members were involved in the planning, design and construction process and are a part of Mission Hospital’s story today – advancing high quality and compassionate care for western North Carolina.
A New Angel Medical Center Certificate of Need was approved for a replacement hospital with no more than 30 beds, three shared operating rooms and one gastrointestinal endoscopy procedure room. Construction is planned to start in February 2019 with the completion of the replacement hospital in late 2021. The selected site of 1 Center Court in Franklin will offer a more centrally located and easier-to-access location for patients, visitors and staff and will also allow for potential future expansion.
The North Tower at Mission Hospital will be equipped with the necessary tools to care for our patients and our community. Integrated care areas, larger spaces for patients and families and cutting-edge technology will result in a better Mission Experience for patients, families, team members and neighbors throughout our region’s 18 counties.
The Emergency Department will more than double in size resulting in shorter wait times, the ability to care for more patients and a separate area for pediatric emergency patients. The new North Tower will also be equipped with mobile technology to help navigate inside the hospital to help patients and families find their way.
